I don’t have the time to be an IT Security Expert!

50 years ago, Corporate Security was about better door locks and taller gates. Times have changed. Unfortunately, while the various types of Information Security risk have increased exponentially, our ability as human beings to learn and absorb information has stayed relatively the same. If you are anything like me, you want to do your job well, make a good living, and have enough time to enjoy life with your friends and family.

Lets assume for a minute you’re a beef eater (gotta love that grilled smell and flavor!). Have you butchered any cows lately? If you live in a house “did you build the roof”?

While in many areas of our lives we have adopted to the specialized economy, when it comes to security we confuse having a rational security strategy with knowing how to implement it.

If you are like the IT staff in most small or mid-sized businesses, there is enough work to keep three of you busy full time with workload left over! Don’t make it harder than it has to be. Working with good security partners can help you off load some of the work associated with taking a strategy and turning it into tactics, and/or taking tactics and executing them in the work place.

Your time is valuable - it is a resource you cannot renew. And since you can’t manufacture more of it, maximize what you have by spreading the load!
